About
50-minute Workshop
Presenters: Isabel Baca, Professor of Rhetoric and Writing Studies, Dept. of English; Joy Urbina, Head of Discovery Services/Librarian, Library
By sharing our experience with co-teaching a technical writing course, both of us, the instructor and the librarian, will describe how we collaborated to enhance students’ writing and research skills, integrated AI, and built a true partnership. In doing this, we will focus on both the instructor’s and librarian’s challenges and how to overcome these, highlighting the benefits of such collaboration.
Attendees will have the opportunity to network with each other and the presenters on how they can collaborate with each other. Attendees who teach are welcome to bring a research-based assignment they would like to redesign to incorporate information literacy or digital literacy with the help of a librarian. Examples will be given of how this collaboration can be developed on various levels of involvement.
