About

Join First Gen Students, Staff, Faculty, and Supporters for some COMMUNITY SERVICE!

On Friday, November 6th, we'll be heading over to Cullowhee United Methodist Church and will meet there at 3:00pm. Please meet at the door closest to the church parking on the back side of the church at 3:00.

During this service opportunity, volunteers will help create wood-carrying totes from upcycled feed bags! Cleaning, cutting, and sewing bags with a pattern is to be expected! Tasks will include cleaning recycled feed bags and folding bags to prepare them for stitching, and using a sewing machine to assemble the bags. We will be making wood-carrying totes for Project FIRE of Jackson County Department on Aging that helps to provide wood for our rural elderly who use wood to heat their homes in the cold winter months.

Please wear clothes that you can work in and layers in case you will be outside. Closed-toed shoes are recommended!
