About
Description:
"The Art of Being Aware" is an interactive program in collaboration with The Hope and Wellness Center about alcohol awareness. Through an engaging painting activity and conversations with The Hope and Wellness Center, students will explore the effects of alcohol on their physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Residents will first walk into the program, being greeted by Community Advisor Zhimeri Heredia. They will then be directed to The Hope and Wellness table, where they can develop strategies to support themselves and others in alcohol-related situations. They can also strengthen their ability to assess risks and make informed decisions regarding alcohol. Residents will then be able to take a free Canvas and sit down to paint for the entire program. This gives the resident the opportunity to have a creative outlet to de-stress, connect with the community, and reflect on the information they have been given regarding alcohol awareness.
Learning Goals:
Residents will understand how alcohol consumption impacts physical, mental, emotional, and social well-being.
Residents will recognize warning signs of alcohol poisoning and identify appropriate steps to seek help.
Residents will identify campus resources, including the Hope & Wellness Center, that provide education, guidance, and support.
