The oral doctoral examination of Atiya McGhee, candidate for the Ph.D. degree, will be held on Friday, November 20, at 10 a.m. via Zoom.

McGhee’s advisor is Professor Michael Gill. The dissertation examining committee will be composed of Professors Barbara Applebaum and Gwendolyn Pough. Professor Jeffery Mangram will serve as chair of the defense. The title of the candidate's dissertation is: “Imagined Deaths, Denied Care: Fat Black Life and the Politics of Survival.”
