About

Prestigious. Specialized. Industry Focused.
The Rice Master of Artificial Intelligence (MAI) is a 30-credit-hour, three-semester, non-thesis professional degree that prepares technical graduates and working professionals for careers as AI/ML engineers, AI architects and applied AI researchers. The first classes begin in fall 2027.
Learn to design, build and deploy modern AI systems, including large language models, retrieval-augmented generation, agentic systems and distributed training. Put those skills to work through a required summer internship and a team capstone, with responsible AI practice built into how you work.
Study in Houston, across the street from the Texas Medical Center, in a small program where faculty know you.
Join us for a virtual information session to learn more about the Master of Artificial Intelligence, what you’ll study and how to apply.
