Holiday Card Contest submission deadline

President Lisa C. Freeman invites students to submit an original artistic design to be used as the 2026 NIU holiday card to help spread warmth and good cheer to the entire community.

This year's holiday card theme, Home in Many Ways, invites artists to explore the many meanings of home and connection within the NIU community. Designs may reflect the people, places, experiences, traditions, or moments that make NIU feel like home. Whether inspired by campus landmarks, academic pursuits, artistic expression, shared experiences, personal growth or the sense of community found at NIU, submissions should celebrate the connections that unite us while recognizing that each person's journey is unique.

The contest is open to all currently enrolled NIU students. Entries consisting of original artwork or photography can be submitted up until 5 p.m. on Monday, Nov 9, 2026. Students may submit multiple entries. We encourage submissions to review past years' winners and think creatively about how to avoid repetition or duplication.

A committee of faculty and staff will select the top three submissions based on quality, originality and holiday/Huskie spirit. The students with the top three selections will receive a one-time scholarship (first place $500, second place $300 and third place $100) and be featured in the president's electronic holiday card.
