About
WSU Students! You are needed to help sort and inventory archaeological collections from historic Fort Wayne in Detroit. Join Museum staff on Thursday mornings this semester to sort through boxes of materials excavated in the 1970s that need to be inventoried, sorted, bagged and labeled. If you are curious about what archaeological lab work is like this is your chance to get hands-on and see if it is for you.
Weekly hours are walk-in, come for as long as you'd like. Try it once or come by every week.
Benefits: Make new friends; learn about archaeology; gain experience
Skills that help: Attention to detail, no fear of touching old dirty stuff (we have gloves), the ability and patience to write small clear lettering.
No experience required.
Please note: open lab is only for current WSU students. Community members interested in this work should come to our Curation Nights done in collaboration with the Michigan Archaeological Society.
