MFA EXHIBITION Janice Alvarez, "For a Moment" @januaryice_art

Save the date for our Fall 2026 MFA EXHIBITION! On view in the TWU West Gallery from November 2– November 13, 2026. An artist reception will be held Thursday, November 12, from 5:00–7:00 p.m.

"For a Moment," a solo-exhibition by MFA candidate Janice Alvarez, recalls her experiences with loss and describe themes of physical and spiritual transformation as well as the preservation of memories through a ritualistic creative practice. Carefully selecting natural ingredients to dye cotton muslin, until it preserves the color of her memories. These ingredients, often consisting of marigold, cochineal, and indigo, are tied to her Mexican heritage and the funerary practices she has experienced.

See you there!
