About
Dr. Vokouma is a researcher in the Department of Socioeconomics and Development Anthropology in the Institute of Social Studies, Burkina Faso. Her research into weaving and dyeing of fabrics spans the past 30 years. She is interested in early weaving as a repository of local knowledge and history, as well as a dynamic element of material culture. In Burkina Faso, the Moosé shifted use and practices of traditional white cloth production after the introduction of indigo-dyeing with the arrival of the Maranse (Songhay) in the 16th century.
