About

Study abroad in Summer 2027 with CSUSB!

Learn more about the 13-day IRELAND program with program leader Karen Rowan.

The Ireland program focuses on "public writing" and teaches students to be more critical readers and producers of public, multimodal texts. Prior to travel, students will learn conceptual frameworks like rhetoric, the public sphere and public writing, and practice analyzing and producing public texts related to their communities. You will then extend this learning by exploring and learning from public texts in Ireland, particularly those related to the 1916 Easter Rising in Dublin and The Troubles in Belfast and Derry. By immersing yourself in Ireland’s history and present moment, you will gain a deeper appreciation for the rhetorical work that these forms of public writing do and will return to the U.S. with new perspectives for reading, analyzing, and producing public writing in your own communities. Application deadline is December 1st!
