About
Marshall University’s Woodson Lyceum proudly presents a special evening with Dr. Edda Fields-Black, winner of the 2025 Pulitzer Prize in History for Combee — a revelatory study of a little-known chapter in Harriet Tubman’s life.
Mark your calendars for Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2026: a reception and book signing begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by a fireside chat at 6:30 p.m. with Marshall University President Brad D. Smith. Both events take place in the Don Morris Room of the Memorial Student Center. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet Dr. Fields-Black during the reception and have copies of Combee signed.
The fireside chat will explore her research process, discoveries about Tubman’s life, and the broader historical implications of her work. Can’t attend in person? The fireside chat will be livestreamed at marshall.edu/livestream. Bring your curiosity and join us for an evening of history, scholarship, and conversation at the heart of campus.
