About

The Torah portion for this week is Genesis 23:1-25:18, where the patriarch Abraham has passed away, and a period of mourning has begun in remembrance of him. The practice of mourning in biblical times, and how this has carried over to modern times, will be discussed in detail with the aid of the talmud, and other modern sources of rabbinic literature.
