About
Exquisitely eclectic quartet The Hands Free and members of the fabulously whimsical Dance Heginbotham join forces in The Party Scene. Inspired by The Nutcracker and your holiday office party, this music and dance extravaganza is part Drosselmeyer and part Turkey Lurkey Time. Lightly immersive and family-friendly, The Party Scene features student party guests from Montclair State University. All guests are encouraged to don impressively festive seasonal sweaters.
About The Hands Free: The Hands Free is an acoustic quartet, bringing together the creative voices of composer/performers James Moore (guitar & banjo), Caroline Shaw (violin), Nathan Koci (accordion), and Eleonore Oppenheim (bass). Drawing from an eclectic array of influences in classical, jazz, and folk traditions, the group produces a unique and evocative blend of joyful melodies, lush sonic textures, and explosive improvisations.
About Dance Heginbotham: Dance Heginbotham (DH) is a New York-based contemporary dance company committed to supporting, producing, and performing the work of choreographer John Heginbotham. With an emphasis on collaboration, DH enriches national and international communities through its unique blend of inventive, thoughtful, and rigorous dance-theater works. Founded in 2011, DH had its world premiere in January 2012 at The Kennedy Center and has been presented by major venues throughout the US, including Bard SummerScape, Brooklyn Academy of Music, Hopkins Center for the Arts, Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, The Joyce Theater, Lincoln Center, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and Works Process at The Guggenheim, among many others. DH has shared the stage with luminaries of the music world, including Alarm Will Sound, Brooklyn Rider, The Knights, National Symphony Orchestra, Joshua Bell, André de Ridder, and Eric Jacobsen, and has commissioned new scores from composers Tyondai Braxton, Ethan Iverson, and Colin Jacobsen. DH has collaborated with designers and artists Maira Kalman, Isaac Mizrahi, Amy Trompetter, Maile Okamura, and Nicole Pearce in the creation of new works.
