About
Let’s Talk Healing is a safe, trauma-informed space for students on our San Luis Obispo and Solano campuses to receive support around trauma-related topics. When you drop in to Let’s Talk Healing, you’ll meet with one of the members of CAPS Trauma Treatment Team.
Let’s Talk Healing is NOT therapy, but rather a place where students may explore topics such as:
• What is trauma?
• What are the different types of trauma?
• What types of treatment and resources are available for students who have experienced trauma?
• How do I support someone who has experienced trauma?
• What are some tools and strategies I can use to support my healing process?
To learn more about the Trauma Task Force providers you’ll meet with, check out the CAPS Meet the Staff page.
Things to consider before dropping into Let’s Talk:
1. Let’s Talk is not a replacement for therapy and is not a crisis intervention space.
2. If you share information about planning to harm yourself or others, and/or share knowledge of abuse occurring to someone from a vulnerable population, then the Let’s Talk provider may be ethically required to take steps that break your confidentiality.
3. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, please call CAPS at 805-756-2511 and either ask for an urgent appointment or select to be connected to our CAPS Crisis Line. You can also call 9-1-1 or go to the Emergency Room. Click here for more detailed resources about what to do in a crisis.
