About
This is the third workshop in a four-part Introduction to Python series. Python is a high-level, general-purpose programming language designed to be easy to read and write. In this workshop, you will learn:
• Data loading and navigation: Import spreadsheet files (like CSVs), explore datasets, and use precise coordinates to pinpoint specific rows or columns.
• Reusable automations: Write custom functions to bundle repetitive data cleaning and organizing tasks, saving time and reducing human error.
• Data structuring and cleaning: Transform cluttered, wide-format tables into clean, standardized layouts by merging rows, grouping related information, and formatting dates correctly.
No prior Python experience is required, though each workshop builds on the one before it. If you miss a session, you can catch up with the Library Carpentry lesson we're working from, Python Intro for Libraries.
