About
Japanese Culture Day at EAS
At the East Asian Studies (EAS) department, Japanese Culture Day offers an enriching experience for language course students. They have the opportunity to practice calligraphy, participate in traditional games, and witness captivating performances of Japanese dance and kendo. These interactive activities allow students to engage with native speakers, immerse themselves in authentic cultural practices, and develop a deeper understanding of Japan's vibrant traditions.
The event fosters a welcoming atmosphere of cultural exchange, encouraging students to embrace the beauty and significance of Japanese culture in a fun and educational setting. Historical Significance Celebrated on November 3rd, Japanese Culture Day, known as "Culture Day" (文化の日, Bunka no Hi), holds historical significance as a national holiday in Japan. Established in 1948, this day commemorates the post-war Japanese Constitution, which emphasized respect for individual rights and freedom. The holiday aims to promote and celebrate Japan's unique culture, arts, and academic pursuits.
