About
50-minute Workshop
Presenters: Kien Lim, Associate Professor, Mathematical Sciences
Creating high-quality Open Educational Resources (OER) can improve student access and allow instructors to design materials that better fit their courses, but doing so requires considerable time and effort. In this interactive workshop, I will share how my collaboration with ChatGPT evolved from developing individual instructional materials to creating the Learning Math by Inquiry textbook for preservice teachers. Participants will explore a practical Design → Collaborate → Evaluate → Revise → Publish process for working with generative AI while remaining the subject-matter expert and instructional decision maker. They will then apply this process to an instructional artifact of their own, such as lecture notes, a worksheet, case study, activity, or assessment. Participants will leave with a refined artifact and practical ideas for beginning or expanding their own OER project.
