About
125 Days After World Cup 2026 rolled out of town, join a panel of researchers and community activists to reflect on Atlanta’s history of hosting mega-events, assess the World Cup’s impacts and legacy, and consider what comes next as the city pursues future large-scale sporting spectacles. Together, we will take stock of the summer’s successes, challenges, and lessons learned and continue critical conversations sparked by the World Cup around housing, policing, governance transparency, public accountability, and inclusive urban development.
This panel is organized by Georgia State University’s Urban Mega-Events Lab, an interdisciplinary network focused on understanding how mega-events reshape cities and shaping more equitable urban policy and planning.
The Plan: 7:00 – Grab some snacks (we will provide a few) and order a drink (that’s on you) 7:15 – Presentations and Q&A 8:30 – Networking, chit chatting, order another drink
