About
Interested in integrating digital tools, methods, and technologies into their research, teaching, learning, and publishing? Join us!
Each quarter, the UCR Library DS meetups cultivate community conversations on digital tools, methods, and technologies and facilitate collaborative learning and connection across all disciplines at UCR. Each meetup will start with a brief presentation or workshop demonstration by guest speakers to spark the conversation. The remaining time will be dedicated to Q&A, and free flow of idea-sharing. All UCR community members are welcome to attend, regardless of your prior experience with digital scholarship!

Build Digital Collection and Exhibit Websites with CollectionBuilder Oct 21 at 12 pm on Zoom
Join us for a demonstration of CollectionBuilder, an open source project for building digital collection and exhibit websites driven by metadata and hosted on lightweight infrastructure.
By the end of this workshop, participants will have gained the basic understanding to implement CollectionBuilder in contexts that include creating and disseminating research collections and custom digital exhibits, or teaching digital libraries in the classroom. No programming experience is necessary; beginners from any background are welcome.
Guest Speaker: Devin Becker is the Associate Dean for Research and Instruction at the University of Idaho Library, where he also co-directs the Center for Digital Inquiry and Learning (CDIL) and oversees the development of the digital exhibit frameworks CollectionBuilder, Oral History as Data, and Digital Dramaturgy.
He holds a BA from Williams College, an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of California, Irvine and an MLS from Indiana University. His first book of poetry, Shame | Shame, was awarded the A. Poulin Jr. Poetry Prize and published by BOA Editions, Ltd. in 2015. Becker was born and raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and remains to this day much too emotionally invested in the Indiana Hoosier basketball team.
