Event Description:
Join social work students, alumni, and macro practitioners for a timely conversation about what comes next after the 2026 midterm elections and how we can turn political engagement into meaningful action. Opening panel: Dr. Charles E. Lewis, Jr., Director of the Congressional Research Institute for Social Work and Policy (CRISP) Melea Rose-Waters, HFA Policy and Government Relations Manager at Prevent Child Abuse America Graig Meyer, Executive Director of the NC Justice Center Sammy Salkin, Senior Policy Strategist at the ACLU of North Carolina Our panelists will share perspectives on emerging community priorities, the implications of election outcomes for policy and advocacy, and opportunities for organizing and collective action. Following the discussion, participants will join themed breakout rooms to connect with others, exchange ideas, and build relationships across policy and practice areas. Whether you're a student exploring macro social work, a seasoned practitioner, or somewhere in between, we'd love to have you join us! Bring your questions, share your experiences, and connect with others working toward change.
