About
Luncheon Colloquium with Jack Hanson
Boston College's Center for Psychological Humanities & Ethics and Boisi Center for Religion & American Public Life are pleased to host Jack Hanson (Columbia University, English and Comparative Literature) for a conversation about the impact of Pope Leo XIV's election on the role of the Catholic Church in American public life. What does Leo's leadership signal about the likely trajectory of the culture wars within American Catholicism? How could his ministry in Peru shape his approach to public religion? And how could Leo contribute on the global stage amid grave doubts about the future of the liberal international order? The conversation will draw on Hanson's cover story on Pope Leo in the August 2026 issue of Harpers. Boisi Center Director David Buckley will moderate.
