All kayaking trips require completing a pool session with trip leaders to demonstrate ability to exit kayaks confidently. The ability to swim independently is required to join this trip.
Join ROPE this Thanksgiving Recess for a wonderful extended trip along the shoreline of Toledo Bend Reservoir at the border of Texas and Louisiana. Bordered by national forest land, this lake offers an opportunity to escape the city and enjoy the forest and lakes. Each night we will camp on the lakeshore giving us a full days to kayaking, explore, and relax before setting up for the next night. You can expect to paddle 8-12 miles each day with our intial plan to head south along the Texas shoreline. This trip features a “disconnect to reconnect” agreement. Phones will be permitted for photos but all services will be turned off to allow participants the freedom to enjoy the trip without personal or community phone distraction.
Registration covers transportation, meals on trail, equipment, and associated recreation fees. Participants are responsible for meals while traveling to location. Participants assist with gear clean-up to encourage gear care and reduce trip costs. Trip registration includes a $100 deposit.
