The Little Gallery Presents: College, State, Nation; Japanese-American Students at OSU During WWII
Nov. 17-Dec. 11, 2026
This exhibit follows the Japanese-American students of Oregon State College as the events of WWII unfolded. It begins with a letter from thirty-six of those students written to the acting president of Oregon State College, F. A. Gilfillan, expressing their loyalty to the US, as well as a desire to continue their education. Amidst increasingly strict policies and the forced relocation of their families, these students conducted themselves with grace and dignity. This exhibit tracks student experience in their chase for education and stability through an incredibly tumultuous time in our history, showcasing how the students navigated their citizenship, loyalty, and national politics.
