About the Lecture
On the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, Dr. Scott Douglas Gerber examines how U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas became the nation’s leading voice on the relationship between America’s founding document and the Constitution. Drawing on Justice Thomas’s major civil rights opinions, Dr. Gerber reveals how the core principles of 1776 continue to shape today’s critical legal debates.
