About
Looking to build competitive direct patient care hours for your medical or professional school application?
Join us in Pre-Health Careers and Professional Pathways (HHS 1100) for an open student-led workshop and candid discussion: Pre-Med to Patient Care: Navigating the CCMA Pathway.
• Date: Friday, 11/20/26
• Time: 1:30 to 2:30pm
• Location: HHS 1100 (Pre-Health Careers and Professional Pathways Suite)
• Presenter: Tyler Hamilton (Junior Pre-Med, CCMA with 1,000+ patient care hours)
Discussion Topics:
• Why Hands-On Care Matters: The practical difference between scribing/shadowing and direct patient care for AMCAS and AACOMAS applications.
• Flexible Certification Routes: How to balance an online, self-paced certification (such as CapYear) alongside heavy science semesters, labs, and MCAT prep.
• NHA CCMA Exam Breakdown: Content layout, 390/500 passing benchmark, and realistic 3–4 week study schedules.
• Working as a Float MA: On-the-job training, learning procedural skills in the clinic, and networking with attending physicians across specialties.
We'll have takeaway reference sheets, exam blueprints, and program discount information.
Space in HHS 1100 is limited to room capacity—arrive early to grab a seat.
