About
Kannada, written ಕನ್ನಡ (Kannaḍa), is a Dravidian language spoken primarily by the Kannadiga people of South Asia and most widely used in the South Indian state of Karnataka. It ranks among the oldest living languages in India, carrying a history of more than 1,500 years along with a deep tradition of literature, poetry, and art.
Through the Kannada Language Sessions, we hope to bring this language and culture to a wider audience. These sessions will introduce the fundamentals of the language, including the alphabet and script, and teach simple phrases that allow attendees to hold basic conversations.
We will also mark Kannada Rajyotsava by learning vocabulary and expressions tied to the occasion. Beyond the language itself, we will explore Kannada culture through discussions of the films, music, and dance forms rooted in Karnataka's traditions.
