About
Generative AI is both a remarkable technology and also a tool whose ever-increasing use presents ethical concerns and very real, material cost. In this presentation, students will gain an understanding of personal risks and societal harms that can be perpetuated by uncritical overreliance on generative AI for information-seeking and decision-making. Students will also learn about the environmental impact occurring as a result of the push for generative AI adoption. Finally, students will be provided with strategies to efficiently use generative AI while mitigating personal risk, addressing implicit bias, and reducing environmental impact.
