About
The Food Recovery Network (FRN) is the largest student-led movement fighting food waste and working to end hunger in America. Founded in 2011, 4 students at College Park came together to form this organization. Currently it has grown into a network of 172 campuses in 46 states and the District of Columbia. They have recovered and donated millions of pounds of food to individuals and families in need! Towson University has reported tens of thousands of pounds of food recovered and supplied to those in need across the Greater Baltimore area.
Our purpose as a student organization is to organize Towson University’s chapter of FRN into a long-lasting, growing, student-led operation which recovers all unsold product and diverts it from landfills to those in need. We aim to heavily involve ourselves in service to the Greater Baltimore community and use our work to better understand and meaningfully improve our university’s food and waste systems.
