LinkedIn & Lattes

About

"LinkedIn & Lattes" will provide residents with an informal opportunity to learn how to intentionally develop an academic and professional network connected to their areas of study. Residents will bring their laptops and participate in a guided LinkedIn profile-building activity covering professional profile photos, effective headlines, descriptions of academic and extracurricular experiences, relevant skills, and strategies for connecting with peers, faculty, professionals, organizations, and alumni in their fields of interest. (I have taken a Career Independent Study Course that I will pull knowledge from, and I am taking Professional Development this semester. The information I give to my residents will come from the lessons I learned from professional mentors). Residents will learn how relationships within and beyond the classroom can contribute to academic development, mentorship, career exploration, and future opportunities. By the end of the program, residents will have practical tools for presenting their experiences professionally and beginning to build a community in their academic discipline.
