About
Residents will participate in an interactive gratitude and community-building program focused on recognizing the positive aspects in their lives, experiences in their lives, and individuals in their lives they are thankful for. Residents will have the opportunity to contribute to a leaf-poster hung up on the wall for the duration of the program, and write something they are grateful for, creating a visual and interactive display of appreciation. Residents will also have the opportunity to create personalized gratitude cards and or letters to share with friends, family, campus staff, or others who have made a positive impact on their life. Residents will also be encouraged to make their own gratitude list in order to reflect on things they appreciate. Fall themed treats will be provided while residents partake in these activities as they connect with other residents as well.
Learning Outcomes:
1. Residents will identify at least three people, experiences, or aspects of their lives that they are grateful for through the gratitude activities.
2. Residents will demonstrate appreciation for others by creating a gratitude card or contributing to the collaborative gratitude display.
3. Residents will recognize how expressing appreciation and acknowledging the contributions of others can positively impact their community.
By providing residents with opportunities to reflect on gratitude, express appreciation, and participate in a shared community activity, this program will encourage residents to recognize the positive impact that individuals can have on their community. The collaborative gratitude leaf will allow residents to contribute to a collective display of appreciation, while the individual card-making and gratitude list activities will provide opportunities for personal reflection and meaningful connections with others. Through these activities, residents will explore how small acts of appreciation can strengthen relationships, encourage community involvement, and contribute to a more supportive living environment.
