Galleries of Tizita

About

The art theme is Tizita, which directly translates to nostalgia or memory. This theme encourages artists to tie themes of memory, music, identity, and cultural expression together.

→ Central question: How do we give form to the things we remember, the things we've lost, and the things we carry with us?

Purpose of Event: Galleries of Tizita is designed to curate a collaborative art space for creative students who want to delve into meaningful expressions of nostalgia. The event will highlight the cultural significance of Tizita, while also celebrating diverse communities through different art mediums. In pursuit of this purpose, the event includes open gallery viewing, Ethio-jazz and Afro-fusion music, artist spotlight presentations, a cultural segue on Ethio-jazz and art mediums, and an awards ceremony.
