About
Samantha’s research quantifies Riparian wetlands (RWs) soil C storage and evaluates how livestock grazing and hydroperiod regulates soil C stocks and organic matter (OM) quality within the Mara River Basin, Kenya. The Mara River is a transboundary system supporting pastoral livelihoods, wildlife tourism, and downstream fisheries, making riparian integrity both ecologically and socioeconomically significant. Yet many RWs in the basin are heavily grazed, and the consequences of grazing on soil C storage and OM dynamics remain unknown.
