Title: The Planet-Star-Galaxy Connection
Abstract: With our current wealth of astronomical data, we have advanced from studying individual exoplanet systems to planet demographics. The next frontier is mapping planets on Galactic scales. I will discuss how to move forward by combining large surveys (Roman, Gaia DR4, SDSS, PLATO) with both traditional and next-generation stellar characterization techniques (i.e. data-driven/ML frameworks) to examine the planet-star connection across thousands of planets and millions of stars. I will summarize how I use this approach to measure key properties for planet host stars in the solar-like and M dwarf regime, the dominant stellar population of our Galaxy. By linking host star properties to planet demographics trends, I am able to probe the formation and dynamical evolution of planet populations (e.g. the Neptune desert, Earth-like planets) across different Galactic regions. Near- and far-future surveys like PLATO and HWO will expand our reach to more Earth analogs, motivating precursor science on planetary system habitability and its connections to the Galactic environment.
