About
What is Snowflake, and how can it help us make better use of data?
Presented collaboratively by the ITS Data & Analytics and Finance & Administration teams, this introductory session explores Snowflake, a cloud-based data platform that enables users to access, combine, explore, and analyze information from multiple sources.
Participants will learn how Snowflake works, how data is organized within the platform, and how to navigate its interface. We'll introduce the fundamentals of SQL, demonstrate how to find and query information, and explore practical applications, including combining datasets, building reusable views, and connecting Snowflake to reporting tools such as Power BI.
Through real-world examples, we'll show how Snowflake can reduce manual reporting, make data more accessible, and turn complex information into useful insights. We'll also briefly introduce some of Snowflake's emerging AI capabilities.
Whether you're completely new to Snowflake or already familiar with SQL and curious about the platform, this session will provide a practical starting point for understanding what Snowflake is and what you can accomplish with it.
