About
Join the KSU Bird Club for an overnight birding and camping trip to Cheyenne Bottoms and Quivira National Wildlife Refuge on November 7-8!
We plan to depart Manhattan on Saturday morning, November 7, and start by exploring Cheyenne Bottoms and other birding sites around Great Bend, KS. That evening, we'll head to Quivira National Wildlife Refuge, where we hope to spot migrating Sandhill Cranes and the endangered Whooping Crane!
We'll camp overnight near Sterling, KS, before returning to Quivira for more birdwatching Sunday morning. We plan to depart for Manhattan around midday Sunday, November 8.
Meeting Location & Transportation: Most members will meet at the Ackert Hall/Engineering Building parking lot on Saturday morning before departing together. Members who prefer to drive separately may arrange to meet the group at Cheyenne Bottoms or Quivira National Wildlife Refuge. We'll confirm exact departure times and meeting arrangements closer to the trip.
Please note: This itinerary is tentative, and departure times, camping arrangements, and birding stops may change. We'll share more details as we finalize plans! --- Event Details: (link below)
