The Next Act brings together graduate students to share their experiences, advice, and honest tips on navigating grad school, giving Ipals members real insight from people who've recently walked that path. This event is essential because it increases exposure to graduate opportunities, while also serving as a guide through the added layers of the process; funding, visas, and adjusting to a new academic system. After the panel, students write a letter to their futureselves, reflecting on what they heard and setting an intention for where they want to be by the time they're applying or starting their own program. Light refreshments (coffee, tea, biscuits) are essential to setting the right tone for the event; they create a relaxed, informal atmosphere that encourages honest conversation rather than a stiff, lecture-style panel, and give students a comfortable space to linger and keep talking with panelists once the formal discussion ends.
