About
Residents are invited to explore cultures around the world through A World Of Flavors, hosted by RAM Merielle in collaboration with the Office of Global Education during International Education Week. This workshop will feature various food stations representing Germany (German Sweets), Mexico (Jamaica), Italy (Pizza), and China (Eggrolls). Before they get their food, they will hear a short presentation about some student life experiences studying abroad. After, they would partake in an interactive activity led by one of the students and myself.
This program aims to foster curiosity about the world, promote appreciation for cultural differences, and strengthen connections among residents through a shared learning experience.
Learning Outcomes:
• Equity & Inclusion: Residents will engage with cultural traditions from four countries to develop appreciation for people from different backgrounds and perspectives.
• Critical thinking: Residents will expand their own horizons of what they can do in college and how they can develop themselves through study abroad programs.
• Collaborative Leadership: Residents will exchange perspectives with peers and engage in shared learning to grow cross-cultural connections.
Through this collaborative program with the Office of Global Education, residents will develop greater awareness of international cultures and the value of global engagement. By exploring diverse culinary dishes and connecting with students who have experience studying abroad, residents will be encouraged to approach cultural differences with curiosity and respect. The program will also foster community building and help residents recognize opportunities to expand their understanding of the world beyond their immediate experiences.
