After the Exam
New HAMs: The FCC will contact you within 3-5 days to pay the $35 license fee. You have 10 days from the day you took your exam to pay this fee. Your call sign will not post to the FCC database until you pay the fee. After your call sign is posted on the FCC database, you are allowed to transmit.
Current HAMs (just upgrading): Your upgraded license level should automatically post to the FCC database within a few days. If your license is active, you do not need to pay any additional fees.
