Goda Palekaitė Screening and discussion
I WRITE WHILE DISAPPEARING 18 mins, 2021
"I Write While Disappearing" is based on found television interviews that helped artist and writer Goda Palekaitė to create a fictional discussion among fourteen female writers and herself. French feminists find themselves in conversation with a Brazilian mystic, an Austrian dramatist, a Soviet-Lithuanian romantic, and a number of others, in an intimate sharing of what it means to be a woman and an artist. Meanwhile, author's own voice pierces through: ‘If I steal does it mean that I write?' Originally the film was installed on the furniture that Goda created specifically for its viewing: a writer’s desk and a tongue-shaped chair. It has been since presented in various art and academic contexts internationally.
