Poster Presentation
Presenters: Dr. Laura E. Mendoza, Assistant Professor of Instruction, Chicano Studies, Languages, and Linguistics
What makes a learning experience memorable? This poster presentation explores how small, intentional changes can transform familiar classroom activities into meaningful, student-centered learning experiences. Drawing on examples from language education, healthcare, first-year learning communities, and interdisciplinary teaching, it highlights practical ways to foster engagement, belonging, reflection, collaboration, and authentic application of knowledge.
Through sample activities, student artifacts, and adaptable instructional ideas, attendees will consider how these approaches could be applied within their own disciplinary contexts. Rather than presenting a single activity to replicate, the poster emphasizes practical strategies for rethinking existing classroom experiences. Attendees will be invited to identify one “tomorrow-ready” change they could make to an activity in their own course, helping create learning experiences that extend beyond content delivery and remain meaningful to students.
