About
The Chess Blend is a student community operated by Juice House at the University of Toledo, founded on the belief that chess is more than a game. It is a training ground for critical thinking and a living window into human and artificial intelligence. So we aim not only to host fun chess games, both casual and competitive, but also to incorporate educational opportunities and publicly connected resources from the Toledo community.
In the Juice House Chess Blend, we uplift chess-playing skills by providing master-level coaching experiences and by competing in regional and national tournaments. We also provide professional development opportunities through project-oriented learning, where you discover the AI algorithms behind chess engines by building them yourself. And we foster a well-connected and fruitful platform of conversations across psychology, neuroscience, business, mathematics, artificial intelligence and education.
Whether you've never pushed a pawn or you're a seasoned tournament player, consider joining us! You'll train with a national master, sharpen your calculation and critical thinking, build real AI projects for your portfolio, compete with the team, give back to the community — and above all, have fun and make lasting friends over the board.
